It’s rugged and beautiful, and it’s the kind of terrain that makes you fall in love with mountain biking all over again.
Expect everything you want from a proper MTB adventure: long climbs, technical singletrack, ridge-line views, fast descents, and even a few bike-park style sections.
And because Appenninica is a smaller, more relaxed stage race, it has a friendly,
“we’re all in this together” vibe.

We arrive Thursday before the start so we can settle in, prepare properly, and actually enjoy the place.
What the week looks like:
Pre-race days done right: ride parts of the course, get a feel for the terrain, dial your pacing and strategy
Full support: physio, mechanic, and my guidance, so your body and your bike are ready every day
Smart recovery: learn what actually helps between stages (and what’s just noise)
Italy outside the race: Parmigiano tastings, local wineries, sunset moments in the mountains, quiet countryside vibes
It’s a balance: serious riding + proper prep, but also time to breathe, laugh, and enjoy being in Italy.

Appenninica is one of those stage races that feels raw, real, and very Italian , not just a polished event, but a full mountain biking adventure through the heart of the Apennines.
It takes place in central Italy, far from the busy tourist hotspots. You ride through quiet villages, deep forests, long ridge lines, and proper mountain terrain that changes every day. Think long climbs, technical singletrack, fast descents, and sections that feel like you’re riding in the middle of nowhere (in the best way).
What makes Appenninica special is the atmosphere. It’s a small and friendly race, the kind where you actually talk to people, eat together, and feel part of a little community for a week. And the food is very much part of the experience: big traditional meals, often served in local sports clubs, with plenty of pasta and simple, hearty Italian dishes that hit different after a hard stage.
For our camp, it’s not only about finishing stages, it’s about doing the week properly:
arriving early, preparing well, pacing smart, recovering between days, and enjoying the place instead of just “surviving” it.
And just to be clear: this is a serious MTB challenge but the vibe is human, supportive, and unforgettable.

It’s both. You’ll ride every day and build confidence but the vibe is relaxed, not competitive. Think: rides in the morning, pool or wine in the afternoon.
Not at all. Fitness level doesn’t matter, we adapt the ride to the group.
If you’re comfortable riding at a steady pace for a few hours, you’ll be just fine.

We recommend it. While the camp includes activity coverage, personal travel insurance is always a smart idea, especially if you’re bringing your bike.
Please be aware: If you get injured and need to be flown home, our insurance won’t cover that. We recommend personal travel insurance that includes repatriation.

Flights, bike rental (if needed), drinks outside of meals and tastings, personal expenses, and any extra treatments beyond the ones included. We also recommend having your own travel insurance.
We ride in the mornings, usually 2–4 hours depending on the route. Afternoons are for recovery, lunch, optional activities, or just relaxing. Evenings are slow...dinner, wine, and good company.
A well-maintained MTB with decent suspension and good tires. If you’re unsure, we’ll help you check. Need to rent one? We can help arrange that too.
If you come with a plus one, you’ll of course share a room. If you’re coming solo, you’ll have your own private room, no sharing with strangers.
Summer! Expect warm, sunny days (25–35°C), perfect for early rides and long evenings outdoors. Bring sunscreen, and leave your winter layers at home.

You’ll ride a mix of scenic vineyard routes, flowing singletracks, and legendary trails like Cliffhanger which we’ll access as a group. Most rides are 2–4 hours, with varied terrain, some climbs, and plenty of fun descents. We’ll guide and support you the whole way.
We are a leading firm in providing quality and value to our customers. Each member of our team has at least 5 years of legal experience.
Yes! From wine and olive oil tastings to yoga, spa sessions, and guided workshops with Hans, there’s plenty to enjoy off the bike. Non-riding guests will have a full program of their own, too.

Fly into Cape Town. We’ll pick you up from the airport and handle everything from there transfers, bikes, luggage. Just show up and ride.
